The choices for casting potentially the baddest of all bad men on "The Walking Dead" are numerous and new rumors are floating around the web about who is going to play the infamous character of Negan. There has also been some industry chatter on those rumors as well.

According to MTV, the actor who seems to be the frontrunner in the race to be cast as the evil character is none other than "Deadwood's" very own Garret Dillahunt.

For those who have not seen HBO's "Deadwood," Dillahunt played a character whose own psychosis oozed all over the screen in his limited time playing the role.

He seemed to be a cool and calm character in the beginning, playing the role of an ominous agent on behalf of the other capitalist bad guy on "Deadwood" that was coming to town. But when he went into a brothel seeking out sex, it appeared that he had many issues and in the end, killed every prostitute in the place with a shaving blade.

Now that he has solid acting chops playing the incredibly demanding role of a malevolent character, he is the perfect choice to play the character of Negan in the series, who in the comics killed one certain main character and gouged the eye out of another.

Here is the evidence that he may be the prime choice for the role, in regards to the demand he is generating online.

On Tuesday, he posted a picture on Instagram, saying he was reading some material of the "TWD" comic that is heavy on the Negan character, adding, "just cause."

On Friday, he started teasing fans on Twitter with his own desire to fill the role. In one tweet, he referenced that he was indeed a fan of "The Walking Dead."

In another tweet, he thanked fans for all the support he was getting to fill the role of Negan on the show.

In any case, these cryptic social media posts do not guarantee that he has been cast in the role at this time, but it does in effect confirm that the role is currently being cast.

It might also be worth noting that MTV reached out to AMC for comment, but they declined.
