'Star Wars: Episode 7' Rumors, Cast & Spoilers: First Teaser Reveals New Footage
Disney continued the huge marketing campaign for "The Force Awakens" with a new teaser to the upcoming film.
The first TV spot for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" debuted on Twitter Sunday and showed new footage within 30 seconds. However, one thing that remained consistent was the exclusion of Luke Skywalker. It seems like Disney is keeping the character secret, and this may be because the character is not really huge part of the film.
However, the new teaser did show new shots of stars Harrison Ford, John Boyega and Daisy Ridley. In the trailer, Ridley's character Rey fights in the center of the action in a Jakku marketplace and shoots in the woods. Ford is on a wintry planet that resembles Hoth, featured in "Empire Strikes Back."
The trailer also features another voiceover, which says, "I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people. I see your eyes. I know your eyes." From the sound of it, the voiceover is once again spoken by Lupita Nyong'o's Maz Kanata, another character yet to be featured visually in trailers.
In the past few weeks, Disney has been making strides in releasing new trailers for the upcoming film. The company first released the theatrical trailer during Sunday night football, and this past week the international Japanese trailer was released with new footage. Five character posters were released as well as a main theatrical poster.
"The Force Awakens" is slated to be released on Dec. 18 and is already breaking records. The film has already sold $6.5 million tickets in presales and even crashed Fandango. The film is coming out 10 years after "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" and is the most anticipated film this year. The movie also stars Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels and Mark Hamill.
