‘Dark Souls 3’ Release Date & Gameplay: Leak Shows Two Collector’s Editions, Game Available on April 2016?
"Dark Souls 3" is set to make waves next year as one of the most anticipated RPG releases. New listings show there's even more to look forward to with two special editions of the game coming out not long after the initial release.
According to a report from Attack of the Fanboy, a NeoGAF member dubbed Alcoholikaust first spotted the special editions of "Dark Souls 3" in the website of an online retailer in the Middle East called Geekay Games. The two editions had separate listings with the full inclusions of each revealed.
"Dark Souls 3" Collector Edition will be bundled with a 25-centimeter Red Knight figurine, three iron-on patches, an A4 hardcover art book, a metal case, cloth game map, collector's box, the official soundtrack and the game itself.
The second special release of the game is called the Prestige Edition. It comes with all the same goodies as the Collector Edition, with the exception of an alternate figurine of the Lord of Cinder that's 40 centimeters big.
Since the listings are in another region, the prices reflected in Geekay Games will not necessarily translate directly to North American prices. On the website, the Collector's Edition is shown to cost 499 AED or about $136 while the Prestige Edition is a hefty 1799 AED or about $490.
The release date of both packages is set on Apr. 12, 2016, which is in line with the date of the game's expected launch next year.
"Dark Souls 3" is the fourth installment of the acclaimed "Souls" series and director Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed he wanted to make the achievements attainable for this upcoming RPG.
"Our objective is to make the game possible to accomplish," he said in a recent interview with Play Magazine. "I want to keep both the possibility of accomplishment and the difficulty itself. Therefore, for example, adding observation, planning, or learning to the basic difficulty situation adds to the importance of the non-skill elements."
Another goal is to capture the fancy of both new and old players of the franchise. This requires a balance of being both challenging and approachable enough for beginners, and Miyazaki is aware of what the team needs to achieve saying, "I think seasoned players will feel refreshed and enjoy new strategies."
He added, "And for new players, I want to make it difficult, of course, but accomplishable and enjoyable."
"Dark Souls III" for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC is set to be released in North America in April 2016.
