President Barack Obama created a Facebook page, which went live Monday. Obama says he wants the page to be "a place where we can have real conversations."

Obama wants to be able to discuss important issues that face the United States, but he also wants to post some "just-for-fun stuff too," CNet reports.

Obama's first post came Monday morning, and it was a combination of text and a video. In the text, he welcomed viewers to his page and said he wanted to take them on a walk through his backyard at the White House to discuss climate change.

Obama says in the video that he enjoys going outside to enjoy nature. He hopes that future national parks and the environments are protected and continue to be enjoyed in the future by Americans. He announced that he is going to Paris in the upcoming weeks to meet with other global leaders to discuss climate change.

By Tuesday, over 775,000 Facebook users had "liked" the page already. Facebook creator Mark Zuckerburg has already commented on Obama's official Facebook page.

"Welcome, President Obama! I'm excited that you've joined our community, and I look forward to seeing how you engage with people here on Facebook," Zuckerburg said.

Obama said that he joined Facebook "at a time when nearly three in four adults online use Facebook, this feels like a great place to do it," he writes. 

As Obama's second term nears the end, he has become much more active on social media. He joined Twitter back in May and quickly gained over 65 million followers.

According to the New York Times, there are about 20 people that help Obama run his social media accounts and it is rare that he actually writes his own posts on the sites.

In the "About" section of his Facebook page Obama describes himself as a "Dad, husband and 44th President of the United States."
