‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7 News: Show Casts Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan
AMC's hit show "The Walking Dead" is about to get even bigger with the introduction of Negan, who will now be portrayed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. For those who do not read the comic books, this is the part of the story were you need to be warned that potential spoilers lie ahead.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Morgan has been officially confirmed to fill the character role near the end of the current season and fill out the role in more detail in season 7.
There has been a lot of controversy lately about the fate of fan-favorite character Glenn (Steven Yeun) who appeared to be killed by Walkers in Episode 3 this season. But there is some uncertainty about whether or not he was actually killed, given the camera angle and the theories that is was in fact Nicholas on top of him getting his guts ripped out.
Although the show sometimes diverges from the comic, this is something that fans are really wondering about because in the comics (here comes the spoiler), Glenn does not die at the hands of a Walker.
It is in fact the villain Negan who ends up killing Glenn in the comic book series. But that is not all that Negan is known to do that is so painfully wrong to the main characters. The introduction of the character this season also leads fans to believe that Glenn must somehow be alive because how else would Negan infuriate Rick and the crew to such heinous proportions.
Well, actually, there are plenty of other ways that we won't discuss here at this time. But suffice it to say that he is the baddest of the bads in the "TWD" universe.
Morgan is quite an accomplished actor in the horror and sci-fi genre, on both TV and film. Back in 2005, he portrayed John Winchester on "Supernatural," father of Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) Winchester in the early years for that series.
He also starred in "Extant" with Halle Berry and the 2009 film "Watchmen." He will be portraying Bruce Wayne's father in the upcoming "Batman v Superman" film.
