‘Star Wars Battlefront’ Free Companion App Launched; Complete List of Weapons, Vehicles, Power-Ups Revealed
"Star Wars Battlefront" is slowly establishing itself, even ahead of its official release. Today, the game's Companion application was launched. With the new feature, players can immerse themselves in the "Star Wars" universe and even begin amassing in-game credits with the card-based game included in the app.
According to an official release from the "Star Wars Battlefront" website, the app can be downloaded for free at the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, or accessed at the Companion page online. With this application, fans of the game can interact with friends, track stats and most significantly, play Base Command to earn credits for the actual game.
The Base Command is a card-based game in the app, one that can be played even separate from "Star Wars Battlefront".
"Your objective is to defend a Rebel base under siege by the Empire," the website said. "You'll fight off the Imperial forces by playing Star Cards featuring the iconic vehicles, weapons, and power-ups from 'Star Wars Battlefront.'"
Missions in the app are called Sieges, and an initial number of eight Sieges will be available. When the "Star Wars Battlefront" is released, the 50 Sieges in Base Command can all be played.
Developer DICE has also dropped a chunk of new details in the official website about the in-game weapons. According to weapon designers Christian Johannesén and Tommy Rydling, there are 11 primary blasters in the game divided into core groups: standard blaster pistols (DH-17), close-to-medium range rifles (E-11), and heavy blasters (DLT-19).
The complete list of the blasters is posted on the site and the team made it a point to offer a huge array of choices saying, "Every blaster has its own unique identity which will fit many different playstyles."
Meanwhile, the vehicle list was also revealed from the infamous Millenium Falcon (playable in the Fighter Squadron) to other favorites such as the X-Wing, Speeder Bike, Slave I and more.
Powerups are also a big part of the game, described on the website as "the most powerful assets in the game." Players should keep an eye out for blue icons on the map to find Powerups, especially the Hero token which will enable them to play iconic characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.
The file size of "Star Wars Battlefront" for the different platforms was also announced on the official Twitter account. As posted, the game will need 23GB of free space on PlayStation 4, 19GB on Xbox One and 27GB on PC.
"Star Wars Battlefront" on PS4, Xbox One and PC is slated for release on Nov. 17.
