PS4 System Update 3.11 Now Available; Find Out What it Does to Your Console
The recent system update 3.11 for the PlayStation 4 will see the stability of the whole software while using some of its features, according to Attack of the Fan Boy.
While it may not actually play a big part on the whole console's performance, the PlayStation 4 system update 3.11 is important in order for a player to visit the PlayStation Store or play games online. Sony previously launched a survey on what players want to be see on the PlayStation 4 console, and it's probably one of the things they are trying to develop. It's no secret that fans have been asking for the backwards compatibility feature, something that Sony has not freely adapted to.
Some of the feedback also included the eagerness of fans to be able to use an external hard drive for the PlayStation 4. This, however, has not been confirmed by Sony and may take time before it can actually be adapted to the platform.
GameSpot said that the PlayStation 4 system update 3.11 mainly enhances rather than adding features to the console. The update 3.11 will take up at least 250.4 MB of space on the console. Currently, the PlayStation 4 system update 3.11 is a follow-up from update 3.10, which was released last October.
The PlayStation 4 system update 3.10 generally added a new feature that allows players to follow the verified accounts of game developers as well as customize their messages using sticker impressions. It may not have been what everyone expects from the giant tech console, but it introduces some new features. The PlayStation 4 console retains its spot as the top shipper of gaming consoles ahead of Xbox One. The holiday season will also bring more revenue for the platform despite declining to include the backwards compatibility feature on their bundles.
The end of the third quarter has given the PlayStation 4 another four million console shipments. This added to the company's total of 29.3 million shipments, which gave Sony $3 billion in revenue for the quarter, a 16 percent increase from last year's recorded sales.
The Xbox One, on the other hand, has capitalized on their backwards compatibility feature in order to increase their shipment of Xbox One consoles. They have also used this feature to lure back former Xbox 360 users. Previously, Xbox One CEO Phil Spencer said that Microsoft is focusing on gamers and not on the actual hardware competition.
