The FBI thwarted a plot by two self-described, Virginia-based "white supremacists" to bomb a church in hopes of igniting a "race car."

According to WTVR, Robert Doyle and Ronald Chaney "ascribe to a white supremacy version of the Asatru faith," and Doyle recently held a meeting at his Chesterfield home to discuss "shooting or bombing the occupants of black churches and Jewish synagogues."

The two men recently met with an undercover FBI agent posing as an illegal arms dealer and allegedly ordered an "automatic weapon, explosives, and a pistol with a silencer."

Chaney was taken into custody earlier this week when he again met with the agent to make the actual purchase. Doyle was also nabbed later that same day. In addition, authorities report the two men were planning to rob and kill a local jewelry store owner, an armored car and gun store owner, with all the heist figuring into their plan to "purchase land, stockpile weapons and train for the coming race war."

A third suspect, Charles Daniel Halderman, was also arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery. All three of the suspects are due in court over a 48-hour period beginning on Nov. 12.

Reports are federal agents swarmed the home earlier this month, with all 15 police cars taking part in the raid.

"It's always in the back of your mind," said Rodney Clarke, the chairman of the trustees of a Baptist church near where investigators said the extremists' meeting took place. "This is right around the corner."

Even before news of the sinister plot leaked, Clarke added his church had already commenced safeguarding the sanctuary.

 "It's a shame you can't worship your god in peace," he said. "You try to have your focus on him, but you have to worry about what's coming through the door."

Earlier this summer, 21-year-old white supremacist Dylaan Roof walked through the doors of a South Carolina black church and opened fire on unsuspecting bible worshippers, killing nine including the pastor.
