Google Phones: Google Possibly Building Own Phones, Processors
Google might start making their own phones for the first time.
These phones would be different from the Nexus phones that Google has other manufacturers make for them; these would be their own.
Google has already mentioned they are thinking about making their own processors for Android phones and now they could be building their own phones, TechRadar reports.
Rumors coming from The Information point to Google creating an entire Android phone on their own, without the help of another manufacturer.
Google already had help from Motorola for making handsets, but then sold the company to Lenovo last year. It looked like this meant that Google would stay out of the phone hardware sector with this sale.
Even though the Nexus phones are called Google Nexus, they are actually made by third parties. The Nexus phones use the cleanest version of the Google's Android operating system, but the hardware is still not made by Google. The two newest Nexus smartphones, the 5X and the 6P, were made by LG and Huawei.
Google will have to be careful not to damage relationships it has with other Android phone makers like Samsung and HTC if it creates its own phone. Google might work closer with these third party phone makers to alter the Android operating system to exactly how they want it to be.
Google's partners that have built the Nexus for them in the past have not been too thrilled, Phone Arena reports. Rumors say that these companies feel that they put in the work to build the phones for Google and they get little in return for doing it.
If Google makes its own phones, it would give them a new name and would not have to hear any complaints from third party companies.
