Jennifer Aniston's Rep Confirms 'Good Samaritan' Story About Actress a Hoax
A representative for Jennifer Aniston has confirmed that the viral "Good Samaritan" story crediting the actress is actually not from her, The rep denied that Aniston helped a homeless woman and her baby, as what was initially revealed on a Facebook fan page.
Aniston's rep told Huffington Post that the actress is not the author of the story posted on a Facebook page with the handle name Jennifer Aniston Fans. The rep said they have no knowledge of where the "Good Samaritan" story came from but confirmed it is not real.
"Jennifer does not participate in social media so basically what you see on fan pages is taken from articles they have seen on her, Aniston's rep said and added, "This particular story, we have no idea where it came from and has nothing to do with Jennifer."
According to Huffington Post, the viral story is actually very old. It was reportedly taken from a Reddit threat titled "What is the nicest thing you've ever done that no one knows about?" However, the user who posted the inspiring story attributing the actress has since deleted their account.
The story was posted on Monday and has since gained media attention and spurred interest among netizens. It was shared over 72,000 times and received over 463,000 likes. After all, the charming story describes the former "Friends" star as someone who has a very kind soul.
The Facebook story describes Aniston as some kind of a "Good Samaritan" since she helped a homeless woman and her baby go home.
"I was day tripping to Vancouver from Seattle and stopped in for lunch at a little cafe. From my window I saw a young teenage girl out in the cold, squatted down in a closed up business doorway, holding a small bundle in her arms. She was panhandling, people were mostly walking by ignoring her. She just looked broken," the story read.
The end of the heart-warming tale ends with the homeless woman receiving $100 cash and some diapers and milk to go for her baby. The woman got on the bus to go home and since then has been sending the Good Samaritan Christmas cards every year. The author ended her story with the hash tag #SpreadPositivityInTheWorld."
The name of the Facebook page and the heart-warming story may have immediately misled readers to believe that the author is no other than Aniston. However, at the end of the story is a P.S. note informing readers that the story has nothing to do or "not related to any celebrity."
