Missy Elliott Releases ‘WTF (Where They From)’ Music Video [Watch]
Missy Elliott on Thursday released the music video for her new track "WTF (Where They From)."
The 44-year-old Grammy-winning MC dropped the new Dave Myers-directed clip, her first music video release in 10 years, according to The Boombox.
"I can't wait for the whole world to see my video tomorrow," she wrote in a post on Instagram Wednesday, the same day she created the account.
Originally, teasers of the track, produced by Pharrell Williams, popped up on ESPN in late October. Fans were expecting the full track to surface on Friday, Nov. 13, but Elliott seems to have surprised everyone by sharing it earlier.
In the video, Elliott shows off her dance moves, flanked by other dancers. She also dons several different looks in the video, including a futuristic shimmering silver get-up with huge goggles, a hip-hop look with a jersey and a beanie with a logo reading "Biggie," and a colorful pop art look, among others.
Along with exceptional choreography and outfits, the video features grooving puppet versions of Elliott and Williams.
The singer has been out of the music scene for a while, but she seems to be making a successful comeback. Along with releasing her own music, she recently served up a verse on Janet Jackson's new track "BURNITUP!" She also made a guests appearance at the 2015 Super Bowl.
Elliott last released her sixth studio album, "The Cookbook," back in 2005. The album, which featured collaborations with Fantasia, Ciara and Mary J. Blige, produced the singles "Lose Control," "Teary Eyed" and "We Run This." That offering topped the U.S. Billboard Top Rap Albums chart.
There is no word yet on exactly when Elliott will be dropping her next album.
