UFC News: Chael Sonnen Says Jose Aldo Won't Show Up at UFC 194 According to Brazilian Sources
Former Middleweight and Light Heavyweight title challenger Chael Sonnen is worried about the main event of UFC 194 between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. In the latest episode of his Podcast, "You're Welcome," Sonnen said that his sources in Brazil are saying that Aldo is not going to show up at UFC 194.
"I am hearing things from people in Brazil, and in this sport where there is smoke there is fire. Every single time, if there is smoke there is fire, and I am hearing things from people in Brazil that they are not confident that Jose's gonna make the walk," Sonnen said as quoted by The Bloody Elbow
"I want that fight to happen, I really do, and I don't want to start a rumor here, but that's what I heard," he added. It's not the first time "The American Gangster" made predictions for a UFC fight. Back in September, he claimed that a light heavyweight super fight between Fedor Emelianenko and Anderson Silva is in the works, per MMA Mania.
UFC president Dana White has shot down that rumor because Silva is still serving his one-year suspension for a failed drug test back in January while Emelianenko will fight Tsuyoshi Kohsaka on Dec. 31 in the Japanese MMA promotion Rizin Fighting Federation.
Sonnen is not the only fighter with the same prediction because interim UFC Featherweight champion Conor McGregor previously said in an interview with the British GQ Magazine that he also thinks Jose Aldo will not show in their UFC 194 fight. "I still don't think he will show. I am trying to be optimistic, but I am never wrong, I always predict the outcome of my fights and I am never wrong," McGregor said.
"Notorious" added that he has already beaten Aldo because he did not show up in their previously scheduled bout at UFC 189. He also said that he has beaten him mentally and it shows in his body language, voice, eyes, and confidence.
The two were supposed to fight at UFC 189, but Aldo pulled out due to a broken rib. However, Dana White have said that he suffered from a bruised rib and damaged cartilage, and has consulted three different doctors not affiliated with the UFC, per MMA Fighting.
Chad "Money" Mendes stepped up for a chance at the interim belt but lost via a second round knockout to McGregor. Now, the title unification fight is scheduled to take place on UFC 194 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Dec. 12.
