NFL: Dez Bryant Blasts Reporters Over Racial Slurs
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant blasted the media again, this time cursing and yelling at a few reporters inside their locker room on Thursday, per Yahoo! Sports. Bryant was allegedly provoked by a reporter who used a racial slur directed at a teammate.
The yelling reportedly started when Jean-Jacques Taylor of ESPNDallas.com used the N-word on wide receiver Devin Street. Then Robert Klemko of Sports Illustrated's Monday Morning Quarterback reported about Bryant's rant towards on Twitter.
According to USA Today, Bryant either saw the tweet or was informed about it before directing his attention on Klemko. “What the [expletive] are you doing? If you're going to report something, report it right. Report the whole thing. Don't single me out like that. That the [expletive] I'd be talking about right there.” Bryant yelled towards the reporter.
The 27-year-old wide receiver then turned his attention on Cowboys media relations director Rich Dalrymple. “How about you fix this [expletive], Rich How about you fix it, Rich? You're talking to the wrong people. You're talking to the wrong people. I'll make sure I'll put it out then. Since you all not going to say nothing,” Bryant told Dalrymple.
Even Dallas coach Jason Garrett had to get into the locker room and calm down his player. Bryant told his coach, “Dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty. They [expletive] dirty, coach. They're dirty. They're dirty. All of them. And especially you,” directing his anger again at Klemko.
USA Today added that after exiting the locker room, Bryant returned with a very big speaker that made noisy music, effectively ending the interviews inside. Tight end Jason Witten commented on Bryant’s tirade saying that he understands the frustrations because of their six-game losing streak.
The Cowboys are currently 2-6 in the NFL Standings and last place in the NFC East Division. The losing streak started when Bryant and quarterback Tony Romo went down with injuries, but the return of the wide receiver is not enough to turn around their season.
The two-time Pro Bowl selection provided his side in a series of tweets. You can read his reason for the tirade here.
