Windows 10 releases its first major update since launching and it's called the "Threshold 2" or the Fall Update, TechRadar reports. The said update is also free for Windows users and those who are ready to take on the update can download it from the Windows Update.

On the Windows Blog, Terry Myerson said, "Today, we reached our next milestone as the first major update to Windows 10 is now available for PCs and Tablets." He also added that the new Windows 10 will now be integrated on the Xbox One consoles. The Threshold 2 update also allows Microsoft to confidently offer the OS to different platforms as well as organizations.

Some of the significant updates included in Threshold 2 are the OS' overall performance and the Cortana device. For the enhanced performance, Windows 10 now boots 30 percent faster than its previous version.

Meanwhile, Cortana can now identify scribbled notes that will significantly help you find email addresses, phone numbers and locate addresses. The new Cortana can also serve as a reminder tool. It can also help in booking and tracking Uber services.

The new browser, Microsoft Edge, also received some additional security and performance features. Users can also view what's in an open tab without leaving their current page by simply hovering through the tabs.

The Microsoft Edge can also sync your favorites between platforms in order for you to keep track on your favorite reading list. Another additional feature of the Cortana is its ability to remind you of the latest coupon deals from retailers such as Macys, Staples and Best Buy.

Other improvements brought by the Threshold 2 include features in the Calendar, Mail, Photos, Groove, Xbox Store, Solitaire and One Note. Security and Privacy of the Fall Update for Windows 10 have also been enhanced. Currently, a beta version of its security version is being developed in order to allow the separation of business and personal data within the platform.

Some of the built-in security features that are already integrated are the Device Guard, Credential Guard, Windows Hello and Windows Defender. Based on Microsoft's numbers, the Windows 10 is currently servicing more than 110 million devices, 12 million of which are on business PC devices.

If you're a Windows 10 user, you may want to check for the update in order to get the maximum experience that the Windows 10 OS can offer.
