'Dancing with the Stars' Cast & Rumors: Alexa PenaVega Will Not Return, DWTS Says No To Romantic Dance Between Two Men
As the "Dancing with the Stars" season draws ever closer to the end, the show gets the spotlight trained on it with drama such as Tamar Braxton's unfortunate exit and reports of the show dismissing the possibility of an intimate dance between two men.
As soon as Braxton announced she was dropping out of the show, the fanbase began buzzing about the possibility of a former contestant making a return. Naturally, most speculated Alexa PenaVega of coming back since she was the last one eliminated from the show.
Despite the clamor of the actress' fans, recent reports shut down the rumors of her return. Even PenaVega's latest posts on social media indicated she will not be hitting the DWTS dance floor in Braxton's place.
"Time to hit the gym!" she tweeted on her official Twitter account. "Gotta make up for not dancing this week. Let's get strong guys!"
As she's "not dancing," it is likely PenaVega isn't currently rehearsing for a surprise return on the reality show competition next week.
Later she added, "Thank you so much for the incredible support and love. I wish this journey could still go on... But everything happens for a reason."
Those who are big fans of the PenaVega couple can pin their hopes of a Mirror Ball trophy on the husband, Carlos PenaVega, who's still in the running for the top spot in season 21 of the show. Both PenaVegas have displayed strong skills on the dance floor and consistently stayed in contention throughout the season.
According to a report from People, the DWTS executives have ruled out asking a former contestant to come back. Instead, the show head-to-head performances by the semi-finalists to fill Braxton's allotted time on the next episode.
Meanwhile, more drama comes as an openly gay artist Who Is Fancy gets tapped to perform on the "Dancing with the Stars" stage. A report from TMZ said that the musician is set to show up on the Nov. 23 episode, debuting his new single "Boys Like You" with Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor.
Since the song tells the story of a man falling in love with another man, Who Is Fancy's choreographer contacted a producer about the possibility of two men dancing with each other. Sources reveal that the executives discussed the matter, but ultimately decided to deny the request.
"Apologies all but this is a definitive no from the network," the producer responded to the email.
The insider told TMZ that the network agreed "near dancing", which reportedly meant two men can dance side by side, but romantic themes are toned down. Another source said the team is currently engaging in "creative conversations" about the upcoming routine.
