The Backstreet Boys have been around for over 20 years, so it's not a surprise the boys have evolved over time. Now that they're a little bit more mature, AJ McLean revealed that the members of the band are trying out a new sound and talking about reuniting with another '90s phenomenon.

McLean, 37, sat down with Hollywood Life to talk about his solo music and plans with the Backstreet Boys. They're the boys of most '90s girls' dreams, but now they're going even more sexy with their upcoming projects.

"I think this album we're trying to go a little sexy, actually," McLean told Hollywood Life. "We're actually trying to be the men that we are today and not necessarily singing 'Quit Playin' Games,' but talkin' about sex, talking about fun stuff! We're all in our mid 30s to 40s, and it's like, that's almost the next phase that we've never really done. We've tapped into a sex appeal here and there, but we've never really like, wrote songs about it or songs that are just sexy."

He added, "We really emulate and look into Maroon Five. Like 'Sugar,' that's a sexy song."

The BSB has been in the business before the spotlight was in Maroon 5 and other younger bands, so the inspiration is a bit surprising. Still, the Backstreet Boys are thinking of doing a tour with a fellow '90s group: the Spice Girls.

"It's funny, Howie actually reached out to Mel B," McLean told Hollywood Life. "I think Nick did as well. We've been in talks; Sadly, it's more so about scheduling than anything else. I do believe that they want to do it. We definitely want to do it, but I think scheduling wise - The Spice Girls want to do their own tour first. We're about to do another album, [and] another tour. So if it ever did happen, it would probably be a few more years from now, down the road, once both groups are done doing their own thing... then we might come together."

He continued, "I think that if we ever did do something with the girls, it would probably be kind of what Jay Z & Justin [Timberlake] did — 15, 16 dates, stadiums only and kinda just knock it out of the park though!"

Whether that joint tour happens or not, the Backstreet Boys looks like they're here to stay. The members are still very close, even showing up to support Nick Carter on "Dancing with the Stars".

In a post-show interview with E! News, Carter talked about them saying, "I wanted to show them, and put on a good performance for them, and show them how their little brother has grown up a little bit."
