A visibly shaken and perturbed Caitlyn Jenner had to pulled away from a crowd of protesters in Chicago on Thursday, after the hecklers berated her as an "insult to trans people."

According to the New York Daily News, the "I Am Cait" star was in town to deliver the keynote address at the "Miss Representation Luncheon" on behalf of Chicago House, an advocacy group that aides people with HIV/AIDS, as well as other LGBT related issues.

In a video of the incident, Jenner can be seen exchanging heated words with protesters, before being led away by security.

"You are an insult to trans people," one protester yells into a loudspeaker. "You are an insult to women."

At least one of the women in the group held up a sign that read "We Ain't Cait." The protest was billed on Facebook as "I Ain't Cait," complete with an event page, and called into question the Chicago House's decision to honor Jenner with the lofty distinction of keynote speaker.

"Caitlyn Jenner, who lives in a mansion and has a net worth of millions of dollars, while the average trans person has a 41 percent chance of experienceing homelesness (sic) and a nearly 50 percent chance of living off less than $10k per year," a segment on the page reads.

Entertainment Tonight reported that a camera crew tailed Jenner throughout the event, obtaining footage for the second season of her Bravo network "I Am Cait" show. The protesters are reported to have been on hand by the time Jenner arrived at the event.

"The group was outside when we showed up with Caitlyn," a source said. "They weren't as aggressive when we got there like they were when we left. We didn't know Caitlyn was going to talk back to the protesters. None of it was staged."
