90s Throwback: Spice Girls and Backstreet to Do a Reunion?
The 90s was a fun time in music history and for those who grew up listening to the decade's boy bands and girl-power groups, you have some spectacular news coming your way.
According to MTV UK, word on the music scene is that the Spice Girls are in talks for a reunion World Tour with the Backstreet Boys. Based on information from The Sun, former lead singer Brian Littrell of the As Long As You Love Me boy band, discussions are on-going for the world tour dates. Quoted saying, "We are actually in early talks about maybe doing a world tour together with the Spice Girls."
This is as good as it gets for anyone who grew up in the 90s.
A possible show-stopper of this may be Mrs. Victoria Beckham- after the London Olympics in 2012 closing ceremony where the Spice Girls reunited for a performance, "Posh Spice" commented that that would be the last reunion with the Spice Girls saying it was the "perfect time to say, 'That's great. Thank you to everybody, but no more.'"
However, MTV recalls that the other Spice Girls seem to be on board. Emma "Baby Spice" Burton previously joked she'd be willing to do a Las Vegas residency if paid more than Britney Spears while Melanie "Sport Spice" C hinted a reunion in 2016 for the 20th Anniversary of the group's "Wannabe" hit song.
The Sun UK however, revealed that the talks are only between the Backstreet Boys and the four remaining Spice Girls, without Victoria Beckham.
Entertainment Wise recalls that The Backstreet Boys have already done a reunion World Tour with New Kids on The Block back in 2011 and with the following of the Spice Girls, this supposed tour would probably be much larger.
Spice Girls had a reunion tour called, The Return of the Spice Girls in 2007 and brought in a massive $ 70 million in ticket sales.
