'Pokémon Go' Release Date Rumors: CoroCoro Hints Big Pokémon Announcement Coming in December
Further details regarding "Pokémon Go" could possibly be revealed next month. The possibility was recently teased in the November issue of a popular Japanese publication.
According to a note near the end of this month's edition of CoroCoro, a big Pokémon announcement is coming this December and the monthly comic book magazine will allegedly have the first scoop, NintendoLife reported.
Is this a reference to the much-awaited augmented-reality game? Well, December editions of CoroCoro usually contain details on upcoming Pokémon movies, but nothing has been set in stone yet for the upcoming issue.
CoroCoro is hugely popular among elementary schools kids since it mainly focuses on manga that is appropriate for their age. The magazine also features Pokémon comic strips each month. These are sometimes complemented by news and screenshots of the Pokémon game series.
It has happened many times in the past that CoroCoro was the first to reveal details on the next Pokémon games. Recently, it accurately revealed new forms for Zygarde. We'll just have to wait for Dec. 15 to find out what the big Pokémon announcement is all about.
"Pokémon Go" is being developed by augmented-reality game expert Niantic Inc. The game is being funded by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo and Google. It lets players find, capture, trade and battle Pokémons in the real world and in real-time.
"For the first time, Pokémon will roam free in the real world. Pokémon Go will allow players to capture Pokémon who inhabit parks, shopping areas, sidewalks and the countryside all around the world," said Niantic Inc. CEO John Hanke through PC Advisor.
The game will come with a separately sold wristband known as the "Pokémon Go Plus." The Bluetooth-enabled device blinks and pulsates whenever a Pokémon is near the wearer. With a simple tap of a button, players can capture the wandering Pokémon.
As of the moment, there's still no word on when "Pokémon Go" will be released. This has led many the Pokémon connoisseurs to make predictions on the game's actual launch date.
The most convincing claim has the game debuting in early 2016. This information originated from a YouTube clip created by an unofficial Pokémon GO channel, in which a theorist explains why Feb. 27, 2016 is the most probable launch date.
During the game's announcement conference back in September (read more here) Game Freak director Junichi Masuda mentioned that 2016 will mark the 20th anniversary of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green. Both titles were the original Nintendo GameBoy games that kick-started the hugely popular gaming franchise on Feb. 27, 1996.
"Pokémon Go" could release as a way of commemorating the ground-breaking anniversary.
