'Friday the 13th' Game Surpassed Targeted Crowdfunded Budget
Kickstarter ended its campaign to fund the video game "Friday the 13th" last Friday, Nov. 13. Yes, apparently, the company found a creative way achieve the crowdfunded game's goal of raising enough funds to fully develop the video game.
According to Kickstarter, the game has successfully raised $823,704 from 12,218 backers. Apparently, the original target budget of $700,000 to push through with the project has been met days before the announcement, but they chose to close the entry on a significant date, and that's on Friday the 13th. On their Kickstarter page, the developers were overwhelmed with the support, saying, Wow! WE'RE FUNDED! Jason has been unleashed!!"
"Friday the 13th" is a third person, asymmetrical multiplayer game that is currently being developed by Gun Media and IllFonic. The participation of the creator, Sean Cunningham, has apparently made the project more interesting.
The crowd-funded game has raised $800,000 and has already finished some of the details of its initial concept, as per the developers' update on its blog. For $700,000, the game was made; Savini's Workshop created an all-new Jason character and the "Sleeping Bag Kill" was developed. For the $725,000 mark, the "Mirror Smash" was added, wherein Jason gets seven years of bad luck. For the $750,000 mark, the "Head Crush" feature, including an eye-popping design, was added.
So far, that has been the development of the game, but the Stretch Goal for the entire project still has a long way to run. The next on the list for the Stretch Goals include "Rip Your Heart Out" ($775,000), "Many Faces of Death" ($875,000), "Fresh Meat" ($925,000), "Triple Death!!!" ($950,000) and "Twitch Frenzy" ($1,050,000). As an addition to the newly announced development on the game, Kickstarter said that they will be adding a physical soundtrack CD for the video game as well as its own artbook. Other perks include the Game Download Key, Game Soundtrack Download Key, Digital Tom Savini-designed Jason Voorhees Skin and the Digital Counselor Clothing Pack DLC Code. There is no official announcement whether Kickstarter will continue to receive pledges and funds as the developmental stage of "Friday the 13th" continues, GameSpot reports.
"Friday the 13th" is scheduled to launch in October 2016 and will be made available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms. As a wrap-up message from the developers on Kickstarter, they are encouraging all of the game's fans to continue supporting "Friday the 13th" and check on what's in store for them by following them on Twitter, Facebook and their campaign page.
