Washington Wizards guards John Wall and Bradley Beal recently had an interview with Hannah Storm of ESPN and were asked who the best backcourt tandem in the NBA is at the moment. The two quickly said that they are the best backcourt in the league, better than Golden State Warriors combination of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

"We're just competitive," Beal said. "We take nothing away from them, but we just feel like we're the best. I'm never going to say anybody's better," Wall added as quoted by CBS Sports. The two said that they are better than the Golden State's duo because they play both ends of the court, offensively and defensively.

It's not the first time Beal has proclaimed that they are the best backcourt in the NBA. Before the season opener last year, he told USA Today the same thing. However, they failed to make it to the final roster of Team USA's 2014 FIBA World Cup, but both Curry and Thompson were vital at the success of the team winning the gold.

"USA and the NBA are two different brands of basketball. We feel as though we're the best backcourt in the league, and I'm pretty sure those guys think they're the best backcourt in the league," Beal said.

Uproxx notes that the claim of the Wizards' backcourt about being better defensively is true because Curry and Thompson each have a defensive rating that hover around 95.5 while Beal is at 98.4 and Wall is at 101.5. However, in terms of the overall team, the Warriors have the third-best defensive rating in the NBA while the Wizards aren't even in the top 20.

CBS Sports adds that the Golden State are dominating the league at both ends of the court. Although, the MVP is not on a level with Wall in terms of defense, he has improved drastically that he is not a liability to the Warriors' defensive schemes. Thompson is one of the best defensive shooting guards in the league and can also defend the point guard and small forward positions.

The Warriors defeated the Wizards twice in their season matchups last season. It was a close contest in Washington with the visiting team winning by seven points 114-107. Curry led all scorers with 32 points, eight assists and five 3-point shots.

It was a different story when Washington visited ORACLE Arena because they got blown out by 31 points 107-76. Curry scored 24 points while the duo of Wall and Beal scored a total of 23 points. For the 2015-2016 NBA Season, the defending champion will face Washington at the capitol on Feb. 4, 2016, while the Wizards will visit the Bay Area on Mar. 30, 2016.
