Ryan Gosling Confirms Star Role in ‘Blade Runner 2’
Ryan Gosling has confirmed he's starring in the highly anticipated sci-fi film "Blade Runner 2."
The 35-year-old Canadian actor is set to start filming the sequel to 1982's "Blade Runner," which starred Harrison Ford, according to E! News.
"Yes, that's true," Gosling said to Collider about his definite role in the film. "It's exciting! All of those things. And if I say anymore there's a chip in me that will explode if I say anything else."
Gosling was convinced to join the movie after he found out he would be working with director Denis Villeneuve and cinematographer Roger Deakins. Ford is also cast in the new film.
In addition to being cast in "Blade Runner 2," Gosling can also be seen in the upcoming film "The Nice Guys," which is directed by Shane Black and also stars Russell Crowe.
"I don't know what to say. It's Shane Black," he told Collider. "He's a world unto himself and his world is so fun and crazy. I had such a great time."
Gosling also revealed that in the film, viewers will see Crowe playing an unusual role.
"Russell Crowe is so funny in the movie, and I can't wait for people to see that. It's a side of himself that he doesn't show very often, and it's hysterical," Gosling said.
While Gosling is busy making movies, he's also getting the hang of being a new father. He and Eva Mendes welcomed a baby girl in September 2014. Gosling and Mendes first met on the set of their film "The Place Beyond the Pines" and have been dating since 2011.
"The Nice Guys" is due out on May 20, 2016. As of right now, there is no release date for "Blade Runner 2."
