Singer Miguel's "Leg Drop" Of Fan At Billboard Music Awards May Have Caused Brain Damage [Video]
This year's Billboard Music Awards will best be remembered not for the artists who won their awards, but rather, for singer Miguel's performance gone wrong. Now it's possible that in the near future one attendant of the awards ceremony may not even remember that.
Khyati Shah was kicked in the head by Miguel after he attempted to leap from one platform to another while singing his hit song "Adorn" during the Billboard Music Awards. Her head smacked violently against the platform, and she was quickly whisked away by the event's staff. Now, it is being claimed that Shah may have sustained lasting brain damage.
"Some of the difficulties she's experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion or a neurological head injury," Shah's lawyer, Vip Bhola said.
At first it did not appear that Shah suffered too greatly from the incident. It appeared that she had only received a bruise on her arm and she was in high spirits while giving interviews with Miguel after the performance. Shah did not, however, receive any proper medical attention, something her lawyer says was completely irresponsible on the part of the BMA staff.
"Bhola says BMA responded to the accident with a pathetic gesture -- an ice pack designed to soothe a bruised elbow. The attorney insists his client should have been rushed to the hospital. Bhola tells us his client is waiting for test results from a neurologist. When the results are in -- sometime next week -- Khyati will decide if a lawsuit is in the cards."
To his credit, Miguel appeared to be genuinely apologetic over his role in the accident. He sought out Khyati immediately after he was done performing and spent time with her for a while during the remainder of the Billboard Music Awards. Immediately after the incident, Miguel tweeted, "got caught up in the moment, thank goodness Khyati is okay."
That may not be enough to save the hit singer from a lawsuit, however. His leap was unplanned and there was no warning given to the concert goers that they may be in any potential trouble. Should Shah be found to have sustained lasting brain damage, a settlement or perhaps even a full-blown legal battle could ensue.
