WWE: Dean Ambrose Winning the World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series?
A new WWE World heavyweight champion will be crowned at the Survivor Series pay-per-view. According to several reports, Roman Reigns is expected to win the WWE title, but rumors are surfacing that Dean Ambrose also has a chance of leaving as the champion this Sunday.
The PWInsider Elite reports via Wrestling Inc. that the WWE creative team is pushing Ambrose as the next WWE champion. Earlier reports say that Reigns is scheduled to win the title at Survivor Series even before Seth Rollins' injury.
Rollins tore his right ACL, MCL and medial meniscus at a WWE Live event in Dublin, Ireland during a match against Kane. He vacated the title, underwent surgery to repair his knee and was expected miss six to nine months, per WWE.com.
A tournament was held two weeks ago that included 16 superstars namely Reigns, Ambrose, Big Show, Cesaro, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Stardust, Kalisto, Ryback, Titus O'Neil, Kevin Owens, Neville, King Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz and Tyler Breeze. The semi-final matchups will be held at Survivor Series with Ambrose battling Owens and Reigns, squaring off against Del Rio. It is expected that both Ambrose and Reigns will be winning their respective matches that will set up the finals between the two friends.
PWInsider adds that even though the creative team is pushing for an Ambrose win, the final decision is still in Vince McMahon's hands. According to a Forbes report, WWE is down to two plans for Sunday's WWE title match with either Ambrose or Reigns turning heel and aligning with Triple H and "The Authority."
The company thinks that it has the opportunity to establish a new bad guy that the fans can hate and also create a shocking moment that will increase interest on their product towards the end of the year and the Road to WrestleMania 32.
The report also mentions that Ambrose is the obvious candidate to turn heel as the WWE is grooming Reigns as the next superstar babyface of the company. However, Bleacher Report suggests that "The Lunatic Fringe" is the perfect opposite of "The Authority."
Ambrose is a very wild and rebellious character, who resembles "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, where he always does unexpected things that can entertain the crowd. His character has no real plans, which makes him dangerous.
