ISIS Targeting New York City? Watch New Video Here
Last week's attack against Paris, France made everyone anxious as to what will come next from the suspected Islamic State militant group, who already claimed responsibility for the attacks. Now, a new video threat is circulating, signifying a threat by the ISIS against New York City.
The leaked video lasts for five minutes and 45 seconds, showing an unknown male seemingly praying then arranging a certain kind of bomb, strapping it onto his belt and showing scenes from Manhattan in the U.S.
The video, which is circulating online, is believed to be a threat. Authorities of New York City have already released a statement announcing their strategy and response towards the speculated terrorist threat.
"While there is no current or specific threat to the City at this time, we will remain at a heightened state of vigilance and will continue to work with the FBI, the Joint Terrorism Task Force and the entire intelligence community to keep the City of New York safe," NYPD Director of Communication J. Peter Donald said in a statement as quoted by The Blaze.
Donald further revealed that the NYPD deployed Critical Response Command teams throughout the city "out of an abundance of caution" as the city's response to the said video and after last Friday's Paris attacks that killed at least 130 people.
The Mirror reported that the U.S. had been on high alert for terrorist threats, including tightening their security, especially in airports. Two flights going to Paris were reportedly diverted by bomb threats. The Mirror furthermore revealed that a Baltimore flight had one Muslim family ejected from the plane at the Chicago airport, where a bomb squad was also requested.
Not only that, another flight headed from Los Angeles to Paris was diverted to Salt Lake City. "As you may have heard, an aircraft was diverted and safely landed at the Salt Lake International Airport this evening," FBI Special Agent Todd Palmer said in a statement as quoted by The Mirror.
"The FBI and its law enforcement partners take all threats very seriously and respond accordingly," Palmer continued. Meanwhile, New York City continues to stress that they are more than prepared for the possible terrorist attack that might occur anytime.
"Stoking fear is the goal of terrorist organizations, but New York City will not be intimidated," Mayor Bill de Blasio said per The Blaze.
"The NYPD is the most capable police force in the country, with a robust counterterrorism operation that was just strengthened with an investment of 500 additional officers," he added.
