Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro Image Leaked? Two Handsets Spotted at Certification Authority
Xiaomi has knocked it out of the park with their premium smartphones. As news of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 surfaced, the fanbase is getting hyped for its release and it looks like Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lin Bin is just as excited.
A report from Gizmo China revealed that the Xiaomi executive teased new handset by releasing a new image of it on the internet. The photo only showed a part of the Redmi Note 2 Pro, but it allows a glimpse of the touted fingerprint sensor as well as the camera and dual LED flash.
The upcoming device looks like a stunner from the limited image, with rounded edges and a pinkish gold design. It's likely to come in more hues.
According to a report from Phone Arena, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro is practically the same device as its "non-Pro" predecessor, but with a few impressive perks such as a metal build. The upcoming device will come with a rear-facing fingerprint sensor, a new feature in the company's smartphone line. While it looks roughly the same size, the new model is also expected to be .5 millimeters thicker than its predecessor.
More specs were revealed by Phone Arena including the smartphone's impressive 5.5-inch screen with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. It's backed by the MediaTek MT6795 chipset plus octa-core 2GHz CPU, and all eight Cortex-A53 cores can reportedly run simultaneously.
Xiaomi also fitted the device with 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a five-megapixel selfie snapper and a 3,060 mAh battery. It will be sold with the Android 5.0.2 pre-installed. In true Xiaomi form, this premium smartphone comes at an affordable price tag; the version with 2GB of RAM is expected to drop at $172 while the other with 3GB of RAM will likely be a bit more expensive.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro is expected to be officially launched by next Tuesday, Nov. 24.
New Xiaomi models also showed up at the China Compulsory Certification (3C) website, spurring speculation about the new smartphones in the company's lineup.
According to a report from GSM Arena, one is listed with model number 2015055, while two variants of another version are shown as model number 2015815 and 2015811. Reports say the first is the Note 2 Pro while the other two are different variants of the Xiaomi Mi5.
The Mi5 is another hotly-anticipated handset and a recent report from Latin Post disclosed that it's on its way powered by the lauded Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.
