Indiana Jones Movie Sequel Cast News and Rumors: Will American Hustle Star Bradley Cooper Replace Harrison Ford in Remake?
Fans of the classic Indiana Jones movie series were disappointed as all get-out when Shia LaBeouf became part of the franchise. But they're bound to be even more disappointed when they hear that Bradley Cooper -- of American Hustle and The Hangover -- may be replacing Harrison Ford in the titular role!
IGN was the first to report that many actors are being considered for the titular role, but Bradley Cooper is in the forefront. The reason for replacing Harrison Ford -- who originated the role in the 1980s -- was because there was no set date for the fifth installment of the film to begin. In addition, script doctor Frank Darabount is interested in the writing the script for the next installment, and he's already pitched a few ideas to the powers that be.
But according to The Huffington Post, the rumor is completely unfounded, and was started because Ford made a commitment to Star Wars Episode 7. There are no plans to reboot the Indiana Jones series, either, and when The Huffington Post contact producer Frank Marshall about the rumor, he responded with a Tweet that effectively shot down everyone's speculations... including, perhaps, Bradley Cooper's.
"Due to the ridiculous rumors that keep popping up, like agents pipe dreams, I will stop commenting on our projects until I have real news," he wrote. "I can only confirm that Katy Perry will NOT be the new Indiana Jones." OUCH!
The 72-year-old Ford (72, man! 72!) has also confirmed that, despite his age, he will always be Indiana Jones. "We've seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it's perfectly appropriate and okay for him to come back again with a great movie around him where he doesn't necessarily have to kick as much ass," he said. Touche!
