‘Rainbow Six Siege’ Open Beta Drops Next Week; Idris Elba Stars in New Gameplay Videos
There are so many great games out that debuted this season that it can be difficult to pick which one is right for the player. Ubisoft will be giving the fans the opportunity to try out the new "Rainbow Six Siege" with an open beta set on Nov. 25 to Nov. 29.
According to an official report on the Ubisoft blog, this upcoming beta run is the final testing milestone before the game is launched to the audience in a few weeks. It's open to players of all platforms and pre-loading will begin as early as Nov. 23.
This open beta is a follow-up to the closed beta last month and all the players who were able to participate then are granted early access on Nov. 24. This time around, the beta is expected to have limited content, focusing on testing the improved matchmaking and online infrastructure. The results of the beta will not be transferable to the final "Rainbow Six Siege" including progression, inventory and rank.
While the scope may be limited, players can look forward to a collection of new content that was not available in the previous beta.
New operators will be playable in the open beta, particularly Russian Spetsnaz operators "Tachanka and his mounted machine gun, and Glaz with his very effective sniper rifle." Three maps will also be available to explore, including a new one dubbed the Kanal Industrial Harbor map. Players can also test the waters on two modes, Competitive Multiplayer and the new Terrorist Hunt mode, where a team is tasked to disarm two different bomb locations.
A report from GameSpot also revealed that Ubisoft dropped two new trailers of the game starring Hollywood star Idris Elba. The "Thor" action hero lent his acting chops to the live-action videos, adding new dimension to the tactical shooter game.
Ubisoft is expecting big things from the upcoming game. According to a separate report from GameSpot, CEO Yves Guillemot opened up about the high expectations for "Rainbow Six Siege" in a conference call with investors last May.
"Over its lifetime, we believe 'Rainbow Six: Siege' has the potential to become the highest-selling shooter in Ubisoft's history," Guillemot explained. "It's very important to consider that this game will continue to live for a long time as we will introduce new content on a regular basis because it will be a multiplayer game."
"Rainbow Six Siege" for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC is slated for release on Dec. 1.
