Viral Breakup Letter Turns Into Vengeful Scavenger Hunt
Everyone handles the loss of a relationship in different ways. Some immediately go to the bar looking for a rebound, others sit at home and pack away a tub of Ben & Jerry's and a select few take the time to reflect back at the relationship with sober hindsight and try to learn a lesson.
One inventive woman, however, felt as if none of these options were sufficient to mark the end of her time with her boyfriend. Instead, she wanted to really go out with a bang, so she did what any reasonable person would do in the situation: she created a scavenger hunt.
In a breakup letter posted to the picture hosting site Imgur over the weekend that has since gone viral, a woman's letter to her now ex-boyfriend can be seen as it instructs him on how to retrieve his belongings. Gone are the days of simply picking up one's things off the front lawn.
The letter starts out with an eerily positive tone that is maintained throughout, and the woman is kind enough to let her former beau know why they are breaking up:
"Hey Honey! Guess who left his Facebook open and got a message from Kelsi? Yeah! You! :) But don't worry, I didn't break anything! [heart] Actually, I was nice enough to package your things!"
At this point the letter takes a decidedly unconventional turn. The scorned woman, who remains unnamed at this point, informs the man that she has invented a little game for him to play in order to retrieve his things. What ensues is likely the most twisted scavenger hunt ever invented.
The woman informs her former boyfriend of where she stashed all of his items. She notes that his clothes were where they first met, his video games are where they first kissed, his laptop is where they bought their first game together, and his T.V. is where they went "all the way." As for all of the relationship's other assorted memorabilia, well, that is at the infamous Kelsi's house.
The break-up letter has been viewed over a million times on Imgur so far, and it's popularity does not seem to be slowing down any time soon. Though there has been no confirmation of its authenticity as of yet, that doesn't seem to matter, as there are simply too many juicy lines to ignore.
"Have fun! Oh, and while I didn't break or damage anything, I can't guarantee anybody else won't find it! Happy hunting!"
