Samsung Galaxy View Deals: 18.4-Inch Tablet Is $100 Off at Amazon, See Details Here
If getting a new TV-sized tablet is on your bucket list this holiday season, now is the best time to pull the trigger on the Samsung Galaxy View. Amazon, in particular, is offering the device for $500, a $100 drop from its original asking price.
It wasn't stated if the price cut would be permanent or if it's only a limited time offer. Given the fact Black Friday is coming this week, it's most likely a temporary discount in an attempt to bolster sales during the highly-competitive holiday shopping rush. If interested takers wait too long to purchase the Galaxy View, they might end up forfeiting the chance to save $100.
To further persuade reluctant buyers, Amazon has outlined the merits of the tablet:
- Instant access to movies and TV with touchscreen grid menu
- Ideal for streaming movies, gaming, and browsing
- Integrated handle for easy portability
- Extra-large, Full HD display for vivid detail
- Designed for sharing with family and friends
- Up to eight hours of battery life per charge
The online retailer will also throw in a 64 GB Samsung Evo Micro SDXC card with the Galaxy View, for an additional payment of $18. That's a 70 percent discount from the standard $60 price tag of the storage card. To sum it all up, both the tablet and the 64GB card can be had for only $518.
The Samsung Galaxy View comes with an 18.4-inch 1080 x 1920 resolution display, 5,700mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage expandable via micro-SD up to 128GB. The Exynos 7580 SoC is under the hood complete with an eight-core 1.6GHz CPU and the Mali-T720 MP2 GPU, as per GSM Arena.
There is a front-facing 2.1-megapixel camera that can take selfies and hold video chats in 1080 x 1920 Full-HD resolution at 30 frames per second. The tablet does not include a rear-facing unit, but it does come with support for Wi-Fi connectivity, A-GPS and Bluetooth v4.1.
"This very much feels like an Android tablet with a huge display, crazy handle, and some video apps tossed in," said tech reviewer Chris Welch of The Verge. "If it were priced $200 lower, maybe you could come up with some use cases. Bring it into the backyard on a nice day. Buy one for your kid going to college, or swap out an old TV taking up a ton of space... but I can't imagine many people are going to bother sinking $600 into Samsung's experiment."
Now that the Galaxy View's price has dropped, some folks will surely want to reconsider their prior hesitation.
