Arizona Boy Cries After Parents Reveal Baby's Gender; Viral Video Approaching 1 Million Views [WATCH]
An Arizona couple is expecting the birth of their fourth child and it so happens to be a girl, which brings the gender count of their offspring to three girls and one boy.
While the two Mertlich girls, Paisley and Harper, were happy to be joined by a younger sister, six-year-old Gunner Mertlich was less than thrilled with the news.
The video Jason and Tiffany Mertlich posted on YouTube, of Gunner's reaction to the news, has made him somewhat of a recent Internet celebrity.
In the video, Jason is videotaping the children around their kitchen as they are served a cake, which upon cutting into would reveal the gender of their expectant sibling -- the color blue for boy and pink for girl.
Jason asks the kids what they think the baby's gender will be. Paisley responded that it will be a girl and Gunner said, "I think it's a boy."
Harper had to think about her answer for a moment before responding that it will be a "baby," causing the two siblings to giggle.
Gunner had the honors of cutting the cake but was not entirely thrilled with the result when he lifted the piece up to reveal a pink center.
"It's a girl!" Gunner shouted as tears began to run down his cheeks. "I don't want a girl! I don't want to eat the cake, I don't want the girl cake!"
When Jason asked the two girls if they were happy they both responded positively to the news, however, Gunner continued to cry and lament that he hated girls and that they're stupid.
"Every time it's girl, girl, girl, girl!" Gunner bemoaned. "It's all gonna be girls! I want to leave this house and never come back!"
Jason tried his best to console Gunner, agreeing with his son that he would've also liked to have two boys and two girls.
The family spoke with Fox News following the popularity of the video and by then Gunner had come to appreciate his newest sibling would be a girl.
Jason said he was surprised at how popular the video became. He also said that he wasn't surprised with Gunner's dissatisfaction but only at the level of the reaction.
"We wanted to tape it so all the relatives could see what we've having," Jason said. "We knew he was going to be disappointed ... I didn't know he was going to go to that magnitude."
After an hour, Gunner finally calmed down and ate some cake, Tiffany said.
"He finally came to, had some cake," she said. "He took it pretty well after that."
