The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the first smartphone to offer a 4K display, but the price of the handset is extremely high.

The Xperia Z5 Premium is a bigger version of the Xperia Z5, and it also offers a 4K resolution display, CNet reports.

With a price tag of almost $1,000, the Xperia Z5 Premium is one of the highest priced phones available right now. Unfortunately, the 4K display cannot justify the cost of the handset.

The 4K display is an impressive 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, but the difference is hardly noticeable on an iPhone 6s Plus which has half the resolution.

The Xperia Z5 Premium does offer a waterproof design and a nice camera to round out the phone. The 23 megapixel (MP) camera offers quality pictures, comparable with other flagship phones.

The design of the Xperia Z5 Premium is awfully boring. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has a much lower price tag and it has a stylish display. The Xperia Z5 Premium has not changed much from previous Xperia models and retains its boring, square shape.

The processor inside the Xperia Z5 Premium is the relatively new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip. This is the same chip used in the regular Xperia Z5 and it is paired with 3 GB of RAM. With this chip and 3 GB of RAM the phone performs well with no lag time.

Inside the phone is a nonremovable 3,430 mAh battery that should last most of the day for most users. If users are playing lots of games or watching videos all day, the battery will drain fast because of the high resolution screen. However, with normal usage, it should last all day.

The Xperia Z5 Premium does have a beautiful screen, but the LG G4 or the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge offer screens that are very good too and the price tags are much lower. Wait until the Xperia Z5 Premium's price drops before buying it.
