Xiaomi MiPad 2 is a Mix of an iPad Mini & Surface
Intentional or not, the Xiaomi MiPad 2 has been largely compared with Apple's iPad Mini because of their apparent resemblance in design.
According to a report from TechRadar, the Xiaomi MiPad 2 is very similar to the iPad Mini 4 as both devices sport a 7.9-inch screen size with a 2,048 x 1,536 resolution. They also have a similar metal construction that embodies the whole device. Most of Apple's iPad Mini 4 features have also been noticeable on the Xiaomi MiPad 2. Apple's reversible lightning connector has been matched up by the MiPad 2's reversible USB Type-C connector. Both accessories serve as power provider as well as an extension for both.
What sets the two apart is their own operating system. The Xiaomi MiPad 2 is ready to be configured with the latest from Android or the recently introduced Windows 10 OS. The iPad Mini 4, on the other hand, runs the iOS. If you're wondering how fast the MiPad 2 is, it has a 64-bit 2.2GHz processor. If you're eyeing to buy the Xiaomi MiPad 2, you're probably in for a good deal because of its OS variation that allows you to integrate Android with a choice of 16GB or 64GB memory or the Windows 10 for an automatic 64GB memory.
The MiPad 2 has an eight-megapixel primary camera and a five-megapixel secondary camera and weighs heavier than the iPad Mini 4. Nevertheless, its design is worth a second look, hailing it as the iPad Mini clone. But that's not all, the Xiaomi MiPad 2 is also considered to be similar with Microsoft's canceled project, the Surface Mini. Despite its non-existence in the market, the Surface Mini did see the world of its developer for a very short time. Also, rumors about its specs pointed out similarly to the current Xiaomi MiPad 2.
The Xiaomi MiPad 2, however, showed greater power than that of the now scrapped Surface Mini because of its ability to contain desktop features. MiPad 2's processor is highly capable of running the Windows OS and definitely able to run the apps that come along with it.
The Xiaomi MiPad 2 is way much cheaper than the iPad Mini, which makes it even more enticing to customers. It costs about $156 for the Android version and a more expensive Windows 10 version for $203. Despite the price variation, the device is still half of iPad Mini 4's price tag, which is around $400.
