The Golden State Warriors made history during their 111-77 win against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night at Oracle Arena, recording the best start in league history.

The Warriors, who tied the 15-0 card of the 1948-49 Washington Capitols and 1993-94 Houston Rockets on Sunday, set a new record with their 16th win in as many games this season and they were hardly threatened.

Golden State came out firing, as they quickly built a commanding 30-11 lead after the opening period. The Lakers played better during the second quarter, but the Warriors responded after the half, outscoring Los Angeles, 35-17, during the third period en route to the win.

Reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry led their attack with 24 points and nine assists to go along with four rebounds and two steals. The sharp-shooting guard did not play for the entire fourth period, as the win was already in the bag for them after the first three quarters.

"It's a special accomplishment any time you can do something that hasn't been done before," said Curry, who is averaging a league-best 32.1 points this season. "It's not going to be total dominance for 82 games."

Draymond Green also had a solid night with 18 points on 7-for-11 shooting to go along with seven rebounds and five assists, Leandro Barbosa added 13 points and three steals off the bench, while Klay Thompson finished with 11 points for the Warriors, who shot 48.9 percent as a team for the entire game.

The Warriors limited the Lakers to just 37.8 percent shooting from the field with only three three-pointers. Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant also had a hard time dealing with the Warriors, as he finished with just four points on a measly 1-for-14 clip from the field.

After setting the best start in NBA history, the Warriors are now setting their sights on two more NBA records -- the 72-10 regular-season record of the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls and the all-time longest winning streak of 33 games set by the 1971-72 Lakers squad.

Based on what he saw from Golden State on Tuesday night, Bryant believes the Warriors have a good chance of setting more records this season.

"Yeah, they could do it - because they're good," Bryant said via USA Today. "It's a very young league, and they've managed to put together a team of extremely intelligent players and extremely versatile players, and great shooters. And so I see no reason why they couldn't continue to extend the record."
