'Avengers 2: Age of Ultron' Star Robert Downey Jr. Gives Emotional Speech at Nickelodeon 2014 Kids' Choice Awards
It's slime time! Nickelodeon's annual Kid's Choice Awards debuted in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 29. Mark Wahlberg hosted the show alongside a variety of children's favorite stars. There was also lots of sliming, lots of speeches and great performances.
"This is the highest honor yet bestowed on me -- I'm grateful, humble, the whole deal," Robert Downey Jr. star of Iron Man, said after winning Favorite Male Buttkicker.
Then, Downey got a little deep with the audience.
"You know I wasn't always a buttkicker. In fact, life has kicked my proverbial butt countless times in many ways for many years, until I decided one day to start kicking back," he said. "Now look at me!"
Then the actor showed viewers showing us a preview of the his upcoming movie, Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.
"Remember when life is kicking your butt, never forget to kick it back right in the face," Downey added.
Dan Schneider took home the night's honorary Life Time Achievement Award for his creation of, well, most of Nickelodeon's most successful shows.
"You've made more milk come out of kids' noses than anyone else," Kenan Thompson, Nickelodeon's Kenan & Kel and NBC's Saturday Night Live star, said in a video message.
In addition to Kenan & Kel, Schneider is also the creator of iCarly, Zoey 101, Sam & Cat, All That, and films Good Burger and Big Fat Liar, to name a few.
Darling Ariana Grande won two awards for Sam & Cat as Favorite TV Show and Favorite TV Actress. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire won Favorite Movie, and Jennifer Lawrence won Favorite Movie Actress. Hit movie Frozen won Favorite Animated Movie, and SpongeBob SquarePants won Favorite Cartoon.
In music, favorites One Direction won Favorite Music Group, and Justin Timberlake won Favorite Male Singer. Pharrell, who was one of the nominees, at least took home an outfit covered in slime. Favorite Female singer was beloved Selena Gomez and Favorite Song was (of course) Story of My Life by One Direction.
Wahlberg, who spent the first 80 minutes of the show dodging slime, finally got what he deserved. After sliming several celebrities through out the show, Kevin Hart, winner of the Favorite Funny Star, partnered with Wahlberg's kids to slime Marky Mark (sorry, I had to).
"I can't believe my own kids turned on me," Wahlberg shouted.
