Mafias vs ISIS: Son of Mafia Boss John Gambino Vows To Protect New York From Terrorists
ISIS has found another formidable foe in the midst of their terror attacks and it's through mafia heir, Giovanni Gambino, and his gang.
Following ISIS' release of their propaganda video threatening New Yorkers last week, Daily Mail reported that the son of mafia boss, John Gambino, vows to protect the city against terror attacks that ISIS plans to drop.
Giovanni said that protection from ISIS' threats is "important than ever" and even though the mafia community has a "bad reputation," together, they will stand up against unwarranted attacks in Big Apple.
"The Mafia has a bad reputation, but much of that's undeserved," Gambino told CBS News. "As with everything in life, there are good, bad and ugly parts - the rise of global terrorism gives the Mafia a chance to show its good side."
The mafia heir added that what FBI and Homeland Security can do is only limited and most of the time, they act too late or fail to dissect the context of a particular incident because the agencies "lack intelligence."
While the world may feel like a dangerous place to live in nowadays, the crime lord heir said that those living in New York, most especially those with Sicilian connection, can be assured that they are safe since they always make it a point that their friends and families "are protected from extremists and terrorists, especially the brutal, psychopathic organization that calls itself the Islamic State."
Citing Sicily as an example, Giovanni also said that he's confident ISIS is scared of his faction that's why the terrorists haven't touched their territory ever since.
But while Giovanni expressed his support for the New Yorkers, he said that he is quite disappointed with Hollywood gangsters like Al Pacino and Robert De Niro who failed to "stand up" against the terrorists.
"I'm disappointed in Hollywood actors that they're not stepping up and speaking out in public. Especially these guys who want to play the big boss in gangster movies," Giovanni told Daily Mail. "Send a strong message that we are all together in fighting this monster called ISIS."
Last week, New York Post reported that the terrorist group released a video featuring shots of prominent New York areas like the Times Square and the Gap in Herald Square.
In a music video-like manner, the propaganda video featured a suicide bomber fixing his explosives as he gets ready for an attack in Big Apple.
Although Giovanni was born in Palermo, Sicily, he considers New York as his home because he spent his life there in the city since 1988 when their family moved to southwest Brooklyn. Aside from his commitment to the mafia community, his passion includes writing, including screenwriting, which enables him to develop relationships with famous Hollywood producers.
