Grand Prix: Formula One Driver Lewis Hamilton Wins First Place At Sepang Circut
One of the best Formula One drivers currently racing has won a smashing victory in Kuala Lumpur, adding to the staggeringly long list of wins. Lewis Hamilton outraced the 21 other drivers and won first place.
The 29-year-old British driver won with by a wide-margin at the Sepang circuit, according to The Guardian. Hamilton was followed closely by Mercedes AMG teammate Nico Rosberg who claimed second place but was 17.3 seconds behind. Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel was third and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso came in fourth place.
The staggering speed and ability demonstrated by Hamilton continues to amaze everyone. This is his 23rd win in Formula One racing, according to The Guardian, and the first one-two result for Mercedes in 60 years. This is the racers first win since Hungary last year.
"I'm giving it everything. There's nothing else that's on my mind, there's nothing else that I'm thinking about. I'm only thinking about the championship. I'm thinking about winning. I'm living and breathing it, as I do every year. For some reason this year there's more capacity," said Hamilton, according to The Guardian.
"I'm more mature. I'm getting older, so all the experiences are adding up. I'm starting to see the benefits of the mistakes, and the things I've said, or the things I've done, and I even noticed it today."
According to BBC Sport, Hamilton dedicated his win to the passengers of the lost Malaysian Airlines Flight MH 370. Hamilton succeeded in achieving a pole position following a rainy qualifying race in which he beat Sebastian Vettel by just 0.055 seconds. On the day of the race, Hamilton remained in control throughout after gaining the lead following the first corner.
Despite retiring from the Australian Grand Prix, Hamilton has helped lower his team's point deficit to 18. The next stage of the championship will be in Bahrain.
