Watch: Jahlil Okafor Punches a Man in Boston Street Fight [Video]
Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor was involved in a street fight outside of a bar in Boston on Wednesday night and was seen decking a man with a punch during the scuffle.
TMZ Sports exclusively obtained a video of the scuffle, where Okafor is having a verbal altercation with a group. He was heard saying: "We got money, you broke a*s n--s."
The shouting match reportedly started when a man heckled Okafor and threw insulting words about the 76ers, who are currently at the cellar of the NBA standings with a humiliating 0-16 record.
Okafor's companion tried to pacify the former Duke University standout, but he was strong enough to get into the heckler. Okafor threw a punch that decked the alleged heckler to the ground.
According to the report, Okafor was heckled the moment he went outside of the bar and "felt threatened" because a group of people "swarmed" him outside the night club.
Jeff Goodman of ESPN also reported that one source who was with Okafor during the incident confirmed to him that the 19-year-old was heckled.
"Apparently, they said: 'The 76ers suck and you guys are all losers. You'll never win a game.' I was around the corner when it happened," the source said. "I saw him a minute after he knocked the dude out. I think the guy was just talking s---. Saying the Sixers suck."
The incident happened after the Sixers took an 84-80 loss to the Boston Celtics in Boston on Wednesday night. Okafor posted 19 points on top of nine rebounds and four blocks in their lost against the Celtics.
The Sixers also released a statement, saying that they are still gathering more information about the incident.
"We are aware of the report and we are currently working to gather additional information," the 76ers said in a statement. "Until that time, we will have no further comment."
Okafor, who is the third overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, is averaging 18.4 points to go along with 8.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game this season.
