There has been new chatter online about a possible revival series for "Dexter" on premium cable channel Showtime but that does not mean that fans are going to see any characters coming back to life, especially his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter).

News of this follows a report by Inquisitr that details the progression of the rumor that has seemed to be making its way up the chain of command and culminating with a comment made by David Nevins, who is the commander-in-chief over at Showtime.

For those who are unfamiliar with popular dark drama series, it was about a man who is a self-confessed sociopath. He is basically unable to feel the normal human emotions of grief, anguish, fear or even compassion. But there were some parts of the series that contradicted those assertions. By day, he was a forensics expert for blood analysis within the Miami Police Department. By night, he was a murderous criminal who sought out victims by following a code that demands he choose other people who are exactly like himself.

His character is quite unique, given that his circumstances came about by an adoption where his father, also a cop within the same police department, adopted him and learned of his condition early in his life. He taught him to focus his desires on bad people and even after his death, Dexter continued to pursue victims following his father's code.

As reported by ScreenCrush, Nevins certainly did seem hip to the idea of bringing back the beloved character series, which was headlined by Michael C. Hall as the title character. He spoke about it at the TCA Press Tour this year.

"'Dexter' is the one show that I would think about [continuing]," Nevins said. "It's a question of when the timing is right. If there's a willingness to do it, I would certainly listen. Certainly I'd look at 'Dexter.'"

He spoke about the revival only happening if Hall were to come back to the series. But he did say that he definitely wants to do it if Hall comes on board, which in effect leaves the ball in the actor's court.
