WWE: Roman Reigns to Win World Heavyweight Championship at Royal Rumble?
Roman Reigns finally captured his first WWE World Heavyweight championship when he defeated Dean Ambrose in the Tournament Finals at the Survivor Series, but Sheamus cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to quickly end "The Roman Empire." According to The Wrestling News Observer via The Inquisitr, there are at least two planned scenarios for Reigns on when he will win back the WWE championship.
The first scenario is to have Reigns lose his rematch with Sheamus at the WWE TLC pay-per-view and win the belt for the second time at the Royal Rumble. He will again face Sheamus at the next event, Fast Lane, and then face the winner of the 2016 Royal Rumble match.
As for his possible opponent, Ambrose is being considered to win the 30-man Rumble match, but Brock Lesnar is the obvious choice. Reigns never got the chance to defeat Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 after Seth Rollins cashed in.
The second scenario involves John Cena returning and winning the WWE championship at the Royal Rumble and keeps the title until WrestleMania. Reigns will then have to win the Royal Rumble match for the second year in a row and defeat Cena for the WWE title at the main event of WrestleMania 32.
Another possible scenario, according to Around the Octagon, is for Reigns to follow Daniel Bryan's path to the WWE World Heavyweight championship in 2014 by going up against Triple H and the rest of The Authority. The plan is to have The Authority screw Reigns over and over to create sympathy for him.
Inquisitr adds that the new alliance between Triple H and Sheamus, with the addition of Rusev and King Barrett, increases the adversity that Reigns has to endure to win back his WWE championship. However, WWE has pushed Reigns the wrong way in the past year that a lot of fans have turned on him, and, instead, cheered for underrated stars like Ambrose, Cesaro and Dolph Ziggler.
Bleacher Report noted that Reigns was planned to wrestle Triple H at WrestleMania 30, but WWE decided to hold off the breakup of The Shield and have "The Game" feud with Bryan that was a complete success for the company.
What Culture points out that a match between Reigns and Triple H will not be bad for the WWE as some fans speculate. Reigns has been heavily promoted by the WWE that he can attract casual fans while Triple H is one of the most well-known wrestlers in history.
