Andrew Wiggins Stats & Highlights: Top College Basketball Player Declares For NBA Draft; Will He Be The Top Pick? [WATCH]
Kansas Jayhawks star freshman Andrew Wiggins is doing what everyone expected he would do.
Wiggins announced on Monday that he plans to leave school in order to declare for the NBA Draft. The basketball star is doing so despite a very poor performance in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Overall, however, the 19-year-old Wiggins played very well in his only season at the college basketball level and did a great job of meeting the high expectations. He was on the cover of Sports Illustrated before he even stepped foot on the court for a regular season basketball game.
Wiggins managed to average more than 17 points per game during his year at Kansas along with 5.9 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game.
According to many reports, Wiggins is expected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming NBA Draft, if not the top pick of the draft. He clearly expects to be drafted without much difficulty considering his decision to drop out of college in order to pursue his NBA career, a decision that many players have made throughout NBA history.
Wiggins is from Canada and was born in Toronto. He attended Vaughan Secondary School for part of high school but then transferred to Huntington Prep in West Virginia in 2011. Ironically enough, he scored 41 points against West Virginia during his time at Kansas.
What do you think about Wiggins's decision to forego the rest of his college basketball career in order to join the NBA? Do you think he is doing it too soon or is he talented enough to get the job done at the next level? Furthermore, which team do you think Wiggins could end up playing for?
