WWE Rumors: Women's Title Coming Back to Replace Divas Championship?
The WWE recently asked fans to vote on WWE.com and select which championship they want to see brought back. One of the options is the Women's Championship that was merged with the Divas title in 2010 after the brand extension ended.
The other titles that were part of the poll were the Hardcore, European, Cruiserweight and Million Dollar championships. The Hardcore title currently leads the voting with 47 percent followed by the Women's with 29 percent.
Current WWE Divas champion Charlotte weighed in her thoughts on the poll and shared her answer on Twitter. Sasha Banks, Natalya and Bayley also responded by choosing the Women's title as the championship they want to see back in the WWE.
According to What Culture, polls from WWE.com do not mean that the WWE will listen to what the talents and WWE Universe wants. The current number of women on the roster can justify the return of the Women's championship that can give more stories to other divas.
The report also notes that the Women's title also looks and sounds prestigious due to its history rather than the Divas title because it looks like a colorful butterfly. Women in WWE are called Divas and have a show on the E! that is called "Total Divas," which means the return of the Women's title may not happen at all.
In a report last August by the Ring Side News, WWE thought of adding a Divas tag team championship to help push the Divas Revolution. The WWE had a Women's tag team title back in the 1980s that were barely defended by the first champions, Velvet McIntyre and Princess Victoria.
According to Inquisitr, the addition of a Divas Tag Team division will help add more stories to the three stables that were involved in the start of the Divas Revolution. It was headed by the debut of three women from NXT, Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks.
Charlotte and Lynch sided with Paige to form Team PCB while Banks became the leader of Team B.A.D along with Tamina Snuka and Naomi. The two teams along with Team Bella, which consisted of twins Nikki and Brie and Alicia Fox, helped elevate the divas division that was really bad since the retirement of Trish Stratus and Lita in 2006.
