Xbox One Update: Elite Controller Demand Continues to Skyrocket, Exceeding Microsoft’s Planning
The new Xbox One Elite Controller was a huge hit with the fans. Even Microsoft did not foresee the extent of the accessory's success in the market as demand continues to grow and the fans clamor for more stock of the much-anticipated controller.
According to a report from GameSpot, Xbox boss Phil Spencer took to Twitter to express his apologies for the dwindling stocks of the best-selling controller. While the executive promised more units are on its way, it's understandable that the fans are being persistent in their search for their premium gear.
"We are working to get more in stock, sorry they've been so hard to find," Spencer wrote on his Twitter page in response to an inquiry about the controller.
To another fan who asked if there will be new releases of the Elite Controller before Christmas, he was careful not to get hopes up. Spencer answered, "It's tough as I don't want to overpromise. Demand has just exceeded our planning."
"If you find one and you want it, pick it up," he advised. "Sorry."
There are still a few weeks before the shipment date confirmed on the Microsoft Store website, which is set on Dec. 28, 2015.
While the $150 pro-level controller is sold for a bit more than the ordinary controller, Microsoft delivers a sleek product that will reportedly help gamers achieve greater accuracy and ease of play. It's personalization capabilities and redesigned ergonomics have catapulted sales through the roof.
"Give your gaming a helpful boost with the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller," the description on the website read. "It adapts to your hand size and play style, so you get better control across all gaming genres."
It may be difficult to nab a unit of the Xbox One Elite Controller, but for those who can't wait for the next shipment to drop, there is another option. Players may choose to buy the Xbox One Elite bundle, which combines a 1TB console with the sold-out controller. This package has a price tag of $500.
In a previous report from Venture Beat, a Microsoft representative addressed the success of the new controller with Xbox players.
"We're thrilled at the amount of interest we've received for the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller," the spokesperson said. "We are working quickly to get more units of the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller in the hands of fans, and look forward to replenishing inventory in time for the holidays."
Will you be getting your hands on the controller?
