Nintendo NX Release Date, Specs & News: Nintendo to Ship 10-12 Million Units Next Year
Japan-based company Nintendo has confirmed that the production of the Nintendo NX will start at the end of the first quarter of 2016, Digitimes reports.
Although the company originally targets the 20 million mark in the production of the gaming console, its component supplier fails to back up the figure, saying that they have an estimate of 10 to 20 million shipments only. Foxconn Electronics is responsible in manufacturing the Nintendo NX consoles but has been mum about confirming anything with regards to the number of units being produced.
The report further indicated that the new Nintendo console is projected to release mass shipments in the second quarter of 2016. Other than Foxconn Technology, Nintendo has also sought the help of other suppliers including Delta Technology, Coxon Precise Industrial, Jentech and Nishoku Technology.
According to the Gamezone, Nintendo recently hit the 10 million unit mark for the Wii U. This is three years after it was first introduced in the market and gaming world. Digitimes Research experts, on the other hand, expects the Xbox One to make the 13 million mark and the PlayStation 4 to hit the 18 million mark in console shipments.
If Nintendo maintains the 10 million mark per year, it could be a good sign of competition between the three leading consoles. Apparently, Nintendo NX is very much alive in the gaming world, and if a company can project a 20 million shipment per year, chances are the consoles are making quite an impressive mark.
According to IGN, Nintendo has a history of being very conservative when it comes to their estimates, giving a wide idea that others may be undermining what the company is actually capable of reaching. IGN also believes that if the 20 million mark is true, then Nintendo is putting so much faith on their hardware.
Previously, IGN also featured Tatsumi Kimishima in his interview with Nikkei, as translated by Kotaku.
He said, "If we localize it into eight languages we can expand it to over 100 countries. I want to do it as soon as possible. This is because our goal is to increase the number of My Nintendo members. It would be good if we reach one hundred or two hundred million members."
Nintendo game's recent integration with the mobile platform has been another form of promoting the company's console hardware. It was also another strategy to get more users to register on Nintendo's online platform.
