Vivo X6 Unveiled With All-Metal Body, 4GB of RAM; X6 Plus Features Premium Audio Specs & More
Finally, Vivo officially unleashed their latest flagship pair: the Vivo X6 and Vivo X6 Plus. The new devices follow the emerging trend of electronics companies of offering a standard-sized smartphone and a larger phablet that's often equipped with slightly better specs.
According to a report from GSM Arena, the larger X6 Plus offers a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution for 386 ppi pixel density. It's a thin and sleek phone that's only 6.6mm, and the all-metal body makes the device feel more premium than ever.
Under the hood, the Plus version of Vivo's newest flagship line is powered by the MediaTek MT6752 chipset with eight Cortex-A53 cores at 1.7GHz and a dual-core Mali-T760. Featuring a hefty 4GB of RAM, it also provides 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded even further. The alternate SIM slot of this dual-SIM smartphone can be used as a microSD slot for extra storage instead of a second SIM.
The Vivo X6 Plus is well-equipped in the media department with a 13-megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus and an f/2.2 aperture, along with an eight-megapixel front camera that can launch in 0.6 seconds and focuses in 0.2 seconds. Fans will get to enjoy premium audio specs with the device's Yamaha Hi-Fi chip and a dedicated amp.
Turning the handset over reveals a fingerprint reader at the rear, which is usable regardless of the phone's orientation. It also has a 3000 mAh battery cell.
The Vivo X6 Plus runs on software that was based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop and tweaked into the "Funtouch OS". Users can choose from the different color options including silver, gold and rose gold.
Like its larger sister device, the Vivo X6 sports a sophisticated all-metal body, an impressive AMOLED display and dual-SIM features. It's a bit handier though with its 5.2-inch screen with 1080p resolution at 424 ppi.
While the internal storage in the smaller X6 variant is a reduced 32GB, it has the same impressive 4GB of RAM. The Vivo X6 is also powered by the exact same chipset, offering a good experience on a smaller display with this handset.
It's also packed with the same camera setup as its bigger sibling with a 13-megapixel rear snapper and a five-megapixel selfie cam. Other notable specs include a 2400 mAh battery and a fingerprint reader.
Even before the official confirmation, there was already buzz surrounding the handsets especially when Vivo dropped a teaser on their official Weibo page in November.
Now, it's been confirmed that the Vivo X6 Plus will cost a total of CNY 3,200 or around $500 while the Vivo X6 is tagged at CNY 2,600 or about $390. Both are expected to drop in China on Dec. 7.
