"Chivalry: Medieval Warfare" just launched for the latest generation consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While the market has already gotten a peek at the game in other platforms, this new version will boast higher performance running at 60 FPS on the PlayStation 4 and at 30 FPS on the Xbox One, a post on the official Twitter account confirmed.

Developer Torn Banner Studios president Steve Piggot initially revealed this and also divulged other key details on "Chivalry: Medieval Warfare" during an interview with WCCF Tech. The company executive revealed that player count will double from 12 to 24 and new dedicated server support, both to improve overall gameplay and performance.

"This means that the game will run substantially better, battles will be more intense with more warriors involved and host-migration and poor connection quality no longer stand in your way of glory in the battle," Piggot explained.

The head of Torn Banner Studios also discussed the possibility of enabling "Chivalry: Medieval Warfare" for virtual reality features. While he did not give specifics on the development plans, he admitted the team is interested to see how the VR technology will unfold.

"VR is a very interesting technology and next year will be its commercial debut, so it's something we are paying attention to and excited about both as developers and as gamers," Piggot said. "We'd be interested to see how demand for VR goes and if there is fan interest in seeing our titles in VR we will be excited to do so."

The first-person multiplayer action game was already released for PC in 2012 as well as the previous generation consoles in 2014, but now developer Torn Banner Studios is unleashing it to gamers in new platforms.

According to a report from GameSpot, "Chivalry: Medieval War" for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will also include over 25 maps and a new Hard mode with teams that can be composed of up to six players.

The standard version of the game costs $20, but an Ultimate Edition is available for $30. This special bundle includes the Barbarian character pack, Marauding arbiter pack, Inquisitive Dreadnaught bundle, and the Barbarian weapon pack can be purchased for $30. For those players who want to buy these packs separately, each cost $8 individually.

As "Chivalry: Medieval Warfare" continues to be a major player in the video game circuit, Torn Banner Studios is already planning for their next title in the works. Piggot hinted at the project in a separate WCCF Tech report saying, "We are very excited about our upcoming project on 'Unreal Engine 4', and hope to have more news on it soon."
