Reality TV star Kylie Jenner could soon find herself under formal investigation for animal cruelty.

TMZ reports the LA County Animal Control center confirms receiving complaints of possible animal cruelty involving the 18-year-old "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star. The reports were generated after Jenner posted a video of her Italian greyhound to Instagram with the dog looking shockingly thin.

A staffer from the Animal Control center declined to reveal just how many complaints have been lodged against the girlfriend of rap star Tyga, but added the facility doesn't need multiple complaints in order to launch a formal investigation on any report of animal neglect.

If any abuse complaints are deemed to be credible the animal could be seized from Jenner's possession. TMZ adds Italian greyhounds are naturally thin animals and reporters spoke with experts who indicated they didn't visually detect much that seemed out of the ordinary.

In addition, the New York Daily News reports The Italian Greyhound Club of America said it's normal for a healthy pup "to show a hint of three ribs and its hip bones."

It's been a rough stretch of late for Jenner, who recently endured widespread rumors that she and Tyga had split after she was a no-show at his 26th birthday celebration in Hollywood. Although the two were spotted celebrating the occasion at a more intimate dinner just a few days later, the rapper has since moved out of her home and they are rumored to be committed to giving one another a bit more space.

The two have been a couple for roughly a year now and almost from the day they went public Jenner has been the subject of constant taunting at the hands of his ex-girlfriend Blac Chyna.

Much of the drama has played out on social media and Jenner recently told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres she feels she's been the victim of persistent bullying for much of her life.
