Wladimir Klitschko vs Tyson Fury Rematch: New Champ Willing to Face Klitschko Again
It seems things will go smooth for an immediate Wladimir Klitschko vs Tyson Fury rematch as the new champion and younger boxer is willing to face "Dr. Steelhammer" again.
"I'd like to do it all again," said Fury about the proposed Fury-Klitschko rematch, per a Fight Hype report.
The report says that there's a strong chance they will meet again after the 27-year-old boxer defeated the longtime heavyweight champion via a unanimous decision on Nov. 28 at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, per Boxing Scene. The two fighters have reportedly agreed to have a rematch clause in their contract.
A separate Boxing Scene article informed about the former champion's intention to exercise that clause into action.
"I was really frustrated directly after the fight but after some short nights I now know that I want to show that I am much better than my performance on Saturday. I couldn't show my full potential at any time. This is what I want to change in the rematch -- and I will," Klitschko said in a statement.
"Failure in not an option," added the Kazakhstan-born fighter.
The former World Boxing Association, World Boxing Organization, International Boxing Organization and International Boxing Federation champ also shared on Fight Hype what went wrong on his side leading to his loss.
The former heavyweight king admitted not being able to "find the right distance" so that he can hit Tyson properly. He also observed that his opponent was "quick with his hands" and even his body, making it more difficult to land those punches.
Peter, the uncle and trainer of the current heavyweight titleholder, is also excited about this declaration from the 39-year-old boxer, Boxing Scene noted.
"We're very excited, and very pleased that Wladimir Klitschko is taking the rematch. We're very happy to take it otherwise we wouldn't have taken (the first fight) in the beginning," Peter said.
The boxing coach shares that his camp intends to stage the fight in the U.K. and Tyson's promoter Mick Hennessy is already thinking of making the Wembley Stadium as their venue for the next bout, per another report from the Boxing Scene. Peter thinks that it will pack a crowd as he anticipates it to be a "mega fight" in Tyson's home country and stronghold.
However, what is more exciting for Peter is to see his fighter win in a more dramatic manner next time the two collide. Peter believes that Tyson can bring down Fury via a knockout. By doing so, it will be a more convincing win.
Can Tyson defend his throne against its former king, Klitschko?
