Mortal Kombat X is getting more characters through downloadable content (DLC). Thursday at The Game Awards 2015 show, the game's creator will announce the first playable character who will be added to the game.

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has confirmed that he will be at The Game Awards 2015 show and that he plans to reveal the first character to be added to Mortal Kombat X, iDigitalTimes reports.

A second pack of DLC has been confirmed since September. Kombat Pack 2 will include at lease four new characters, character skins and a new arena. Players have been guessing exactly who the new characters could be.

In the first Kombat Pack, two characters were external characters and two characters were from previous versions of Mortal Kombat. In Kombat Pack 2, the characters could be only external characters, or a mix of both external characters and those already in the game.

Boon has been teasing the new DLC as "Who's Next?" He has tweeted an image of four shadowy figures with the same "Who's Next?" slogan.

Boon has not been giving many clues on who will make it into Mortal Kombat X as playable characters, even though his followers on Twitter have been begging him for hints.

One of Boon's followers suggested that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles could be playable characters in Mortal Kombat X. Boon quickly denied that suggestion and replied "No."

In Mortal Kombat X's story mode there are several characters that appear while players progress through the game. These characters already have move sets and visuals. Converting them to playable characters would not require much effort.

When Kombat Pack 1 was released, the first DLC character was not a Mortal Kombat veteran. The first DLC character in this pack was Jason Voorhees from the "Friday the 13th" movies.

After Jason was introduced, Mortal Kombat X put in Tanya from Mortal Kombat 4 into the game. Then, it was back to movie's with Predator. Finally, the fourth character was another Mortal Kombat veteran named Tremor.

Mortal Kombat fans will find out Thursday night at 9 p.m. Eastern. It is available on several online platforms.
