They are undoubtedly the most admired, recognizable women in the world -- whether they are strutting the runways or gracing the covers of fashion magazines, the Latin models of Victoria's Secret always manage to boast their flawless physique and enviable lines. Find out what it takes to be the sexiest Angels and get ready to rock bikinis like them in the summer!
ADRIANA LIMA
"It's important to watch what you eat -- protein, a little bit of carbs and vegetables," said the Brazilian beauty. "And I work out." She follows a control portion diet plan, which means her calorie intake decreases as the day progresses. Lima chooses oatmeal with raisins and egg whites for breakfast. On an average day, she consumes about 5 ounces of protein, including fish, chicken or red meat, usually with steamed or grilled green vegetables. Fibers constitute a significant portion of her lunch, because she believes it helps better processing the food and prevents the calories from accumulating in her body. She eats raw vegetables, such as cucumbers and carrots, for snacks. The supermodel eats only salad and nothing else for dinner because keeping it light at night helps her sleep well, as well as keeps her refreshed the next day.
HIIT routine, which is High Intensity Interval Training that involves repetitions of exercises of high intensity followed by small, less intense exercises, is one of the main priorities in her workout plan. Lima does other strenuous, muscular-focused exercises, such as body weight leg squats and abdominal workout. She loves boxing including a combination of complex drills with higher velocity and strength. "It's something that's always new," she said. "Also, I jump rope." The sexy model believes that boxing not only makes her look physically fit due to its cardiovascular nature but also keeps her mentally sharp since it requires her to be precise regarding her movements and balance. She uses jump rope for quicker fat loss and effective toning. Lima also performs Capoeira, which is a martial art originated in Brazil that combines dance and music with high speed and power.
Adriana Lima previously revealed that she applies coconut water on her face for healthy, glowing skin -- she simply soaks a cotton pad in coconut water then puts in all over her face. She also massages her hair with avocado for super moisturized and shiny hair.
ALESSANDRA AMBROSIO
She does not have a restricted diet since she loves food. Ambrosio eats eggs in a variety of ways with bacon daily in her breakfast, along with coffee, muffins, sandwiches, bagels, bread or fruits. She usually consumes salad for lunch, sometimes with filet mignon or chicken breast, and rice and beans. In the evening, the supermodel snacks on a little amount of nuts with a cup of coffee. For dinner, she eats whatever she wants to eat, as long as it is healthy, of course.
Ambrosio has almost perfect body measurements of 34-25-35 with long legs, thin thighs and tight buttocks. She focuses a lot on butt exercises, trained by fitness teacher Leandro Carvalho, who is famous for "Brazil Butt Lift." She incorporates elastic bands in her workout routine by keeping the foot in between them and then swinging the arms in the air, which also involves the butt movement. The Brazilian Angel also performs Capoeira for rounder and fuller butt shape.
She shared her beauty tips, saying that she applies whatever she puts on her face, on her body: "Usually that's the area that we feature the most. So whatever I put on my face, I'll put it right here on my body (motioning to the area between her breasts and her chin). Or I'll use a body moisturizer there. Every time I shower I have to put on moisturizer or oil. I'm always moisturizing my skin." And how does she keep her golden highlights looking so healthy? "I love Moroccanoil products for the smell. And I also use Kérastase Volumactive because my hair is very straight, so I like things that give nice volume," she said. "And I try to put a treatment in once a week. I use a 5-10 minute treatment from Kérastase."
JOAN SMALLS
The Puerto Rican model does not diet, as she pays a lot of attention to her fitness instead in the form of exercises. She eats scrambled eggs, bacon, and a croissant for breakfast, and her favorite Puerto Rican dish is chicken and garlic (mofongo con pollo al ajillo).
However, Smalls gives full stress on her body physique. It is necessary for her to do regular exercises to strengthen her back, as she is unfortunately suffering from scoliosis, the abnormal curving of the spinal cord. Also, abs and buttock always are the target of her exercises. The supermodel does 1 hour of daily workout -- she starts with a cardio exercise like jogging followed by strength interval training. She keeps a check that she burns 500 calories per day.
Before applying lipstick, Joan Small makes her lips smoother by applying lip balm. Since the T-zone of her face is somewhat oily and other surfaces are normal, she washes her face with salicylic acid, which is prescribed by dermatologists for oily-skinned acne prone women. After washing her face, she does not forget to apply moisturizer.
GISELE BUNDCHEN
She does not follow very strict diet regime, however the Brazilian supermodel insists on including raw food in her healthy meal. She consumes 1600 calories per day, and takes in a lot of coco juice and fresh fruits. Her breakfast includes a toast, while her lunch consists of two slices of skimmed chicken, lettuce, fruits and rice. For dinner, she eats fish fillet and salad with majority of tomatoes. Bundchen always keeps a time gap of at least three hours in between her dinner and going to bed, giving sufficient amount of time to the body to digest all the food.
The beauty performs a variety of exercises to maintain her flawless, enviable body. She practices cardio workouts for five days a week, and does Anusara yoga, which is free-style yoga that is comparatively easier than other yoga postures but still provides flexibility, for two days in a week for one hour. She runs for 45 minutes per day to increase the resistance power and endurance, and swims to provide mobility to her joints. Bundchen also dedicates her time playing Brazilian body surfing and water polo water aerobics, which includes swimming and underwater running, as well as doing Kung Fu, including kicking, stretching and punching, for three days in a week for 90 minutes.
Gisele Bundchen unveiled one of her beauty tricks before: "I had a really horrible pimple on my nose, and a makeup artist gave me Nelsons Acne Gel. I kept putting it on, and my pimple went away."
BARBARA FIALHO
The Brazilian model loves to eat pastries -- she tries to allow herself little treats in the morning for breakfast, she eats a lighter lunch, which consists protein, vegetables, grains, and a healthy type of carbohydrate like brown rice, and then she chooses for a very light dinner. "So when you adjust your metabolism to work like that and you work out, you will lose weight," she said. "With, of course, a lot of water and green tea. Whatever helps you to detox your body will help you lose weight. It's a good trick."
Fialho also relies on green tea, ice water and steam room to slim down: "I've learned about green tea and the powers it has on the skin. I've learned about ice water in the morning -- when you wake up tired, or you're jetlagged and you've been flying and your skin is dry, or you have puffy eyes -- the ice water really helps cool the face down and helps circulation. The steam room saves me every time. I wear makeup every day for work and I do my hair every day for work. So with the steam, I am able to really deeply clean my pores without a facial. Your pores are open afterwards, so if you wash and deep cleanse and use a toner, it does wonders."
The Angel is very strict with her workout regiment. She runs for 30 minutes, 5 days a week. She says she is always working out so she can allow herself more treats.
Her favorite beauty products are Victoria's Secret shampoos and conditioners, and Moroccanoil intense hydrating mask. "I go to the salon to have a deep conditioning every month," said Fialho. "That professional touch and the massage all of that helps. I use a deep conditioner in the steam room, which helps the hair absorb the shine and it definitely looks better."
